Salary contingent on degree and years of experience: 26-27 School Year: $53,220 - $108,047

Certification Requirements:

Must possess and maintain the certification requirements as established by Connecticut State Statutes. Teacher certification, Experience in magnet or choice school environments. AP teaching or AP program coordination experience. Dual enrollment / early college coordination experience. Leadership in experiential or outdoor education programming. Administrative or leadership certification.

Minimum requirements for Magnet Resource Teachers include:

  • A highly qualified classroom teacher for at least 5 years with proven ability in pathway courses and subjects.
  • Experience with curriculum development in the magnet theme of their school (career pathways) as demonstrated by previously written curriculum materials.
  • Experience in desegregation-related programs and magnet schools.
  • Able to handle staff training responsibilities.
  • Have college courses in curriculum development and courses related to their schools career academy magnet theme.

Duties and Responsibilities: These master teachers will support all of the school-based activities that are described in this proposal. They will assist in and support the professional development of classroom teachers in the magnet theme areas through extensive coaching. They will assist in the development and implementation, with teachers, of the career academy magnet theme

curricula and, generally, the development and implementation of career academies, career pathways, magnet units, and joint projects between core academic and career academy magnet theme teachers. They will facilitate collaborative teacher planning, teach model lessons, and help in the development and implementation of recruitment plans and activities.
