Job Description:
Early Start Milford Parent Ambassador
Essential Tasks of the Position: MIlford's local governance partnership (LGP), Early Start Milford: Nurture and Grow is seeking two (2) Parent Ambassadors to support meaningful connections with local families. The Parent Ambassador is responsible for outreach to new parents and parents of birth to school aged children throughout the Milford community. The goal of the work of the Parent Ambassador is to create two way communication with parents to help them access appropriate supports and services, and to identify community needs related to child care and educational needs of Milford's families. The Parent Ambassador will communicate this information back to the LGP during its regular meetings. This may include establishing forums where parents can access the Parent Ambassador, as well as a parent newsletter communicating resources, services, and events that support parents, children, and families.
Parent Ambassadors will be responsible for planning at least one family engagement event or workshop during each quarter of the school year. Families across all three early childhood programs will be invited to attend these events.
In addition to working with Milford's parents, the Parent Ambassadors will work with Milford's Local Governance Partners, Milford's Liaison, the Office of Early Childhood Parent Cabinet, and a Collaborative of State/Local Parent Ambassadors.
Education: At a minimum, the Parent Ambassador should possess a bachelor's degree.
Experience: The successful candidate will demonstrate prior efforts to support community outreach within a community organization.
Skills: Strong writing and interpersonal communication skills.
This is a year round, 12-month position.
Compensation: The Parent Ambassador is paid $25.00 per hour for up to 10 hours of work per month.
