Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) - Manager of Behavioral Services
Position Summary
BHN Schools is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to serve as Manager of Behavioral Services. This leadership position is responsible for providing behavioral consultation, overseeing the implementation of evidence-based behavioral programming, supervising behavioral staff, supporting educational teams, and ensuring high-quality services across multiple school locations.
This is a central office position that requires regular travel between BHN Schools. Mileage reimbursement is provided in accordance with organizational policy.
Essential Responsibilities
Leadership & Program Development
- Provide leadership in the development and implementation of school-wide behavioral systems.
- Establish and monitor best practices in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) across all programs.
- Develop behavioral protocols, procedures, and program standards.
- Analyze behavioral trends and recommend systemic improvements.
- Participate as a member of the schools leadership and multidisciplinary teams.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs).
- Develop, implement, and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
- Perform behavioral assessments using evidence-based methodologies.
- Analyze behavioral data and modify interventions as needed.
- Ensure fidelity of behavioral programming.
Staff Supervision & Training
- Supervise behavior technicians, Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), and other assigned behavioral staff.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback.
- Design and deliver professional development for teachers, paraprofessionals, and administrators.
- Support staff in crisis prevention, de-escalation, and behavior management strategies.
Consultation
- Consult with administrators regarding challenging behavioral cases.
- Collaborate with special education teams, related service providers, and outside agencies.
- Participate in PPT/IEP meetings as appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with families regarding behavioral programming and progress.
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain documentation consistent with BACB ethical standards and state regulations.
- Ensure behavioral services comply with IDEA, Connecticut regulations, and organizational policies.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and behavioral data.
- Support Medicaid or insurance documentation requirements when applicable.
Required
- Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
- Masters degree in Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education, or a closely related field.
- Experience conducting FBAs and developing Behavior Intervention Plans.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
Preferred
- Experience in an educational setting.
- Experience supervising RBTs or behavioral staff.
- Knowledge of Connecticut special education regulations.
- Experience supporting students with autism spectrum disorder, emotional disabilities, and complex behavioral needs.
- CPI, Safety-Care, or comparable crisis intervention certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis principles.
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to coach and develop staff.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across several school locations.
- Proficiency in behavioral data collection and analysis.
- Commitment to collaborative problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Work Environment
- Position is based across multiple BHN School locations.
- Frequent travel between school sites is required.
- Mileage reimbursement is provided.
- Occasional physical intervention may be required in accordance with approved crisis management procedures.
- Regular attendance is essential.
