Assistant Director of Student Access, Attendance & Engagement

Hartford Public Schools | Office of Student Support Services | Salary Range: $137,101 - $146,249

Hartford Public Schools is seeking a mission-driven leader to guide districtwide student attendance, enrollment access, and re-engagement efforts. Grounded in equity, empathy, and whole-child development, this role ensures that every student is enrolled, connected to school, attending regularly, and meaningfully engaged in learning.

What Youll Lead:

  • Districtwide attendance intervention and chronic absenteeism reduction strategies
  • Enrollment access and re-entry support for students experiencing mobility or instability
  • McKinney-Vento compliance and educational stability for students experiencing homelessness
  • Educational continuity for justice-involved and court-involved youth
  • Family and community engagement partnerships that remove barriers to school participation

What You Bring:

  • Masters degree in educational leadership, social work, school counseling, public administration, or a related field
  • Connecticut administrator (092) certification
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in student support services, attendance and engagement, or a related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of McKinney-Vento requirements and chronic absenteeism strategies
  • Experience collaborating with interagency partners (DCF, juvenile probation, courts, housing authorities)
  • A commitment to equity and culturally responsive practice in an urban district

Compensation: Hartford Principals and Supervisors Association collective bargaining agreement 11 | Twelve-month position | Salary Range: $137,101 - $146,249
