Join Our Team: 504 Compliance Specialist

Hartford Public Schools | Office of Student Support Services

Hartford Public Schools is seeking a 504 Compliance Specialist to join the Office of Student Support Services at Central Office. Reporting to the Executive Director of Student Support Services, this role helps ensure school teams across the district are equipped to identify, evaluate, and support students with physical or mental impairments protected under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serving as the primary point of contact for in-district and out-of-district 504 cases
  • Facilitating professional learning for school-based 504 coordinators on district forms and systems, including 504 Direct
  • Collecting and managing student data across electronic student management systems
  • Partnering with Health Services to support emergency care plans for medically fragile students
  • Serving as a liaison with charter and choice schools, and facilitating meetings for students attending out-of-district magnet schools
  • Contributing to district-wide diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in human services, education, health, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience (in lieu of a degree, 12 years of 504 compliance experience required)
  • Knowledge of Section 504 and Title II of the ADA, including related legislation and accommodation procedures
  • Knowledge of school health procedures and episodic, chronic, and emergent care in a school setting
  • Strong technology proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel between work locations (personal vehicle)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred; strong orientation toward urban school systems preferred

Compensation & Schedule

This is a 10-month position under the HESP salary schedule, Grid A-515: $60,789-$73,216.
