Are you passionate about ensuring every student has equitable access to the education they deserve? Hartford Public Schools is seeking a dedicated 504 Compliance Specialist to join our Student Support Services team!
About the Role
In this role, youll serve as a trusted resource for school teams across the district, helping to build their capacity to identify, evaluate, and support students protected under Section 504. Youll be a key point of contact for 504 cases district-wide, partnering closely with school-based coordinators, Health Services, and Special Education to ensure our students receive the accommodations and support they need to thrive. This role extends beyond our district schools - youll also support Hartford students who attend out-of-district magnet schools, as well as serve as a liaison with charter and choice schools.
What Youll Do
Facilitate professional learning for school-based 504 coordinators
Serve as the primary resource for 504 identification, evaluation, and accommodation processes
Facilitate 504 meetings for Hartford students attending out-of-district magnet schools
Serve as a liaison with charter and choice schools for Hartford students requiring Section 504 protections
Collaborate with Health Services on emergency care plans for medically fragile students
Support district-wide consistency in Section 504 compliance and services
Build strong, trusting relationships with schools, families, and community partners
What Were Looking For
Bachelors degree in human services, education, health, or a related field, plus 3+ years of experience (or 12 years of 504 compliance experience in lieu of a degree)
Strong knowledge of Section 504 and Title II of the ADA
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Compensation & Schedule
This is a 10-month position under the HESP salary schedule, Grid A-515: $60,789-$73,216.
