The Akamai Engineer (Automation & Edge Platform) is an experienced professional responsible for designing, automating, and supporting Akamai edge services that enable secure, reliable, and scalable delivery of Client’s internet-facing applications.
This role operates as a contributor, applying hands-on expertise within a complex platform while collaborating across teams to improve processes, drive automation, and ensure alignment with operational and business goals.
Responsibilities
Akamai Platform Engineering
Configure and manage Akamai services including edge properties, routing, and security controls
Support onboarding of applications to the Akamai platform and ensure adherence to standards
Troubleshoot and resolve issues impacting application performance, availability, or security
Automation & Workflow Enablement
Develop and maintain automation solutions for Akamai platform provisioning and configuration
Integrate Akamai capabilities into CI/CD pipelines using APIs and infrastructure-as-code practices
Support and enhance governed workflows (e.g., GitHub pipelines, validation checks, approval gates)
Reduce manual effort by identifying repeatable processes and implementing automation
Operational Support & Reliability
Support production operations and participate in incident response related to edge services
Identify recurring issues and contribute to improvements in platform stability and efficiency
Ensure deployments align with change management, risk, and compliance standards
Collaboration & Cross-Team Enablement
Collaborate with application, network, and security teams to deliver Akamai-based solutions
Provide guidance and support to teams adopting Akamai automation workflows
Engage with stakeholders to ensure solutions align with team and department goals
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
Stay current with Akamai capabilities, automation tools, and industry best practices
Identify opportunities to improve performance, security, and operational efficiency
Contribute ideas for process enhancements and automation opportunities across the team
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
3–5+ years of experience in network engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering
Experience with:
o Scripting or programming (Python, Terraform, or similar)
o CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar)
o API-based automation
Hands-on experience with CDN, edge, or application delivery platforms (Akamai preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with:
Akamai Property Manager, Edge DNS, or security services (WAF, DDoS, Bot Management)
oPolicy-driven automation (e.g., validation checks, guardrails)
DNS and certificate lifecycle management
Familiarity with Agile delivery models and enterprise change management processes
