Roles & Responsibilities
Lead the administration, maintenance, and Level 3 support of enterprise IBM AIX, IBM Power Systems, PowerVM, VIOS, HMC, LPAR, NIM, and PowerHA environments. Administer and troubleshoot IBM PowerVC, including virtual machine provisioning, lifecycle management, capacity optimization, resource monitoring, and virtualization automation. Design, deploy, configure, and support Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization platforms to modernize and manage traditional virtual machine workloads. Perform advanced system administration activities, including AIX upgrades, patching, performance tuning, security hardening, capacity planning, automation, and root cause analysis. Manage enterprise storage integration across SAN, NPIV, Fibre Channel, multipathing, and IBM storage platforms. Develop and maintain automation solutions using Shell Scripting, Ansible, Python, and OpenShift CLI to improve operational efficiency and platform reliability. Lead migration and modernization initiatives involving AIX workloads, PowerVM environments, PowerVC, and OpenShift-based virtualization platforms. Collaborate with infrastructure, network, storage, cloud, security, and application teams to design and implement resilient, scalable, and highly available solutions. Monitor platform availability, performance, capacity, and security while ensuring compliance with established SLAs, operational standards, and change-management processes. Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform detailed root cause analysis, and implement preventive and permanent corrective actions. Provide Level 3 technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, support technical reviews, and drive operational best practices. Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures, troubleshooting guides, and operational runbooks.
