Aircraft Electrical & Component Repair Technician

Airflight Aerospace is seeking an experienced Aircraft Electrical & Component Repair Technician to join our growing FAA Part 145 repair station and component repair operation.


We are looking for a hands on technician experienced in troubleshooting and repairing aircraft electrical, electronic, avionics, instrument, or electromechanical components. C 130 and military aviation experience is a major plus but is not required. Commercial aviation component repair experience is also highly valued.


Responsibilities


• Test, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, and perform final testing of aircraft electrical and electromechanical components and accessories.


• Diagnose electrical, electronic, and mechanical failures using multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, specialized test benches, and other diagnostic equipment.


• Disassemble, inspect, repair, reassemble, and test aircraft components.


• Perform circuit board repair, precision soldering, wire splicing, terminal pinning, and connector and cannon plug repairs.


• Troubleshoot motors, switches, relays, solenoids, actuators, wiring, connectors, sensors, and other electrical and electromechanical devices.


• Read and interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings, Air Force Technical Orders, Component Maintenance Manuals, and other approved technical data.


• Document inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, test results, and final acceptance testing.


• Assist with the design, fabrication, troubleshooting, and validation of specialized aviation test equipment and tooling.


Qualifications


• 3 or more years of hands on aviation electrical, avionics, instrument, electronics, or electromechanical experience preferred.


• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes rather than simply replace components.


• Experience using multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and electronic diagnostic equipment.


• Strong soldering, wiring, connector, and circuit board repair skills.


• Ability to read electrical schematics, technical manuals, drawings, and blueprints.


• Mechanical aptitude and experience with motors, gears, bearings, actuators, pneumatics, or hydraulics is highly desirable.


• Ability to use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, height gauges, and depth gauges.


• Ability to meet applicable requirements for access to ITAR controlled technical data and defense related articles.


Preferred Experience


Experience repairing aircraft electrical accessories or components in an FAA Part 145 repair station.


C 130, military aviation, avionics, aircraft electrical systems, or component repair experience is strongly preferred.


Experience with LabVIEW, automated component test equipment, or designing and troubleshooting aviation test benches is highly desirable.


High school diploma or GED required. Military technical training, A&P training, avionics training, associate degree, or related technical certification is preferred but not required.


About the Position


This is a hands on bench technician position for someone who enjoys troubleshooting difficult problems and taking ownership of a component from initial evaluation through repair and final testing.
