Position Summary
An Air Import Agent is responsible for coordinating and managing international air freight import shipments. This role ensures cargo is moved efficiently from origin to destination while complying with customs regulations, airline requirements, and company procedures. The agent serves as the primary point of contact for customers, airlines, customs brokers, and transportation providers.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and monitor air import shipments from arrival to final delivery.
Prepare, review, and process import documentation, including:
Air Waybills (AWBs)
Commercial Invoices
Packing Lists
Customs documentation
Communicate with airlines, ground handlers, customs brokers, trucking companies, and customers regarding shipment status.
Arrange cargo release, customs clearance, and inland transportation.
Track shipments and provide proactive updates to customers.
Verify shipment details and ensure accurate data entry into transportation management systems.
Resolve shipment delays, damages, discrepancies, and service issues.
Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, TSA requirements, and company policies.
Manage billing, invoicing, and cost control related to import shipments.
Maintain accurate shipment records and documentation.
Support customers with quotes, shipment inquiries, and service solutions.
