This role involves teaching skills in equipment and movement, coordinating uniform and equipment design, organizing rehearsals, and ensuring color guard members meet high performance standards. The Color Guard Specialist plays a key role in supporting students, preparing for performances, and upholding the program's competitive standards. KEY FUNCTIONS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Instructional Support and Rehearsal Management: 1. Teach color guard classes and provide individual or small-group instruction to build proficiency in equipment handling and movement techniques. 2. Conduct sectionals and extra rehearsals as needed to ensure color guard performance readiness and alignment with band expectations. 3. Assist with rehearsals during and outside of the school day, adhering to UIL guidelines and supporting the band program's broader goals. Program and Performance Coordination: 1. Coordinate the design and selection of color guard uniforms and equipment in collaboration with the Band Director, ensuring visual alignment with the band program. 2. Support the Band Director in planning and designing marching shows, routines, and other performances, contributing creative input to enhance program quality. 3. Participate in recruiting and tryouts, developing literature, conducting training sessions, and evaluating candidates to build a successful color guard team. Administrative and Organizational Support: 1. Assist with maintaining accurate records, including attendance, assessment data, and other documentation as directed by the Band Director. 2. Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents, maintaining confidentiality in accordance with district policies. 3. Organize and manage color guard equipment and supplies, ensuring materials are accessible, well-maintained, and ready for performances. 1
