    POSITION TITLE: Aide - Instructional Bilingual

    EXEMPTION STATUS: Non Exempt

    REPORTS TO: Principal

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 months; 2026-2027 school year

    Primary Purpose:

    This is a position to assist English language learners in increasing academic literacy enhancement and linguistic acceleration of English proficiency acquisition. Provide instructional support services. Assist teacher in instruction, preparation, and management of classroom activities. Work under the direct supervision of teacher(s).

    Qualifications:

    Education/Certification

    Associate degree, two years of study (48 college hours) at an institute of higher learning, or meet formal academic assessment

    Valid Texas educational aide certificate

    Special Knowledge/Skills

    Ability to assist with classroom instruction

    Ability to work well with children

    Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational, and interpersonal skills

    Ability to speak and write Spanish, required

    Experience working with children

    Major Responsibilities and Duties:

    Instructional Strategies

    • Provide direct instruction in linguistic acceleration of English proficiency to students in individual and small group settings.
    • Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays, administering and scoring assignments and assessments, preparing records and reports, and maintaining a neat and orderly classroom.
    • Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
    • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
    • Assist in conducting parent involvement activities and encourage family engagement.

    Student Management

    • Assist with classroom management.
    • Supervise students throughout the day, inside and outside the classroom.
    • Keep teacher informed of special needs and issues of individual students.

    Professional Growth and Development

    • Participate in professional learning activities to improve job-related skills and demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
    • Attend and participate in staff meetings and special events as assigned.

    Communication

    • Establish and maintain appropriate communication and professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
    • Present for students a positive role model that supports the mission of the district and demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible as set out in the Texas Educator Code of Ethics.
    • Maintain confidentiality of student and district information.

    • Lifting: Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds without assistance, 30-55 pounds with assistance, and more than 55 pounds with appropriate assistance
