    Primary Purpose

    Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of the physical education teachers on each campus. Assist in the preparing, conducting, and managing of classroom activities.

    Qualifications

    Education/Certification:

    High school diploma or GED requiredAssociate degree or two years of higher education preferredIf hired, must complete SBEC certification process to obtain an Educational Aide Certification

    Major Responsibilities and Duties

    Assist teachers and students in the area of physical education.Assist teachers in preparation of student work, workstations, instructional materials, and classroom displays.Help setup and maintain neat and orderly classrooms.Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.Adjust on-the-spot instruction without immediate teacher directions when necessary and provide feedback to teacher on students' progress.Monitor and manage student behavior during class.Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom; this includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local Board policy.Maintain confidentiality.Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.

    Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Standing, occasional kneeling, squatting, bending and stooping. Moderate walking. Regular light lifting and carrying. Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise. Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.

    Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals: standard instructional equipment.
