Location: Remote (preference for Central & Eastern Time Zones)

    Position Status: Contract to hire

    About the Role

We are seeking an experienced AI Project Manager to lead high-impact AI initiatives from strategy and evaluation through implementation, adoption, and operational transition. This role is ideal for a proven technology project leader who has successfully delivered AI-enabled solutions and can immediately contribute to active projects with minimal ramp-up time.

You will partner with business leaders, technology teams, data professionals, architects, security and compliance stakeholders, and external vendors to ensure AI initiatives deliver measurable business outcomes. The ideal candidate combines strong project execution skills with practical experience leading AI projects through proof of concept, pilot, and production deployment.

    Key Responsibilities

    AI Project Leadership

    • Lead active and emerging AI initiatives from planning and evaluation through deployment, adoption, and operational support.
    • Drive execution across multiple workstreams while ensuring alignment with business goals, timelines, and strategic priorities.
    • Establish and maintain detailed project plans, milestones, deliverables, and success metrics.

    Project & Program Management

    • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, and status reporting.
    • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of AI solutions.
    • Facilitate project governance, steering committee updates, and executive-level communications.
    • Monitor project progress and proactively address obstacles that may impact delivery.

    AI Strategy & Implementation

    • Collaborate with stakeholders to define AI use cases, business objectives, measurable outcomes, and success criteria.
    • Support planning and execution of AI proofs of concept, pilot programs, and production implementations.
    • Partner with technology and business leaders to prioritize opportunities and maximize business value.

    Stakeholder Engagement

    • Serve as a key liaison between business, technology, data, architecture, security, privacy, compliance, operations, and vendor teams.
    • Translate AI concepts, opportunities, risks, and limitations into clear business language for non-technical audiences.
    • Provide leadership with visibility into project status, risks, investment requirements, decisions, and expected outcomes.

    Change Management & Adoption

    • Drive stakeholder alignment, user adoption, and organizational readiness.
    • Ensure successful transition of AI solutions into ongoing operational support.
    • Track and report on business outcomes, adoption metrics, and value realization.

    Required Qualifications

    • 5+ years of experience in Technology Project Management, IT Project Management, or related project leadership roles.
    • Demonstrated success leading AI projects, AI-enabled technology initiatives, or Generative AI implementations.
    • Experience managing AI solutions through proof of concept (POC), pilot, deployment, and production adoption phases.
    • Strong project delivery experience involving cross-functional teams and complex stakeholder environments.
    • Experience partnering with business, engineering, data, architecture, security, privacy, compliance, operations, and vendor teams.
    • Proven ability to manage iterative delivery approaches, evolving requirements, and technical uncertainty.

    Strong expertise in:

    • Project planning and execution
    • Risk and issue management
    • Budget and resource management
    • Governance and compliance oversight
    • Executive stakeholder management
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to drive accountability, execution, adoption, and measurable business results.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with Enterprise AI, Generative AI, Machine Learning, Intelligent Automation, or AI-enabled digital transformation initiatives.
    • Familiarity with AI governance, responsible AI practices, data privacy, security, and regulatory considerations.
    • Experience working in Agile, Hybrid, or Waterfall project delivery environments.
    • PMP, PMI-ACP, Scrum Master, or equivalent project management certification.

    What Success Looks Like:

    • Quickly assess complex environments and become productive with minimal onboarding.
    • Drive momentum across multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
    • Balance speed, governance, and risk management during AI implementation.
    • Focus on outcomes, adoption, and measurable business value, not just project completion.
    • Communicate confidently with executives, business leaders, and technical teams alike.

    Important Note

This role does not require hands-on AI engineering or data science expertise. However, practical experience successfully delivering AI or AI-enabled solutions is required, not merely an interest in AI. Candidates should be able to step immediately into active initiatives and provide effective leadership from day one.
