Role Purpose
Product leader for a portfolio of AI-powered, client-facing products within CBRE Digital & Technology. Owns the strategy, roadmap, and outcomes for how applied AI shows up in the hands of users - translating emerging capabilities into experiences that move the business. Sits at the intersection of product thinking, applied AI, and customer empathy: identifies the highest-value problems to solve, decides what to build and when, and partners with engineering, design, and data science to ship products that earn adoption. Operates with a builder's instinct - opinionated, evidence-driven, and willing to hold the bar on both quality and intent.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Vision
Set the vision for a portfolio of AI-powered products; identify where applied AI and emerging tech can unlock disproportionate client value.
Define and own the product roadmap; sequence investments against business outcomes, technical readiness, and user signal.
Bring a sharp, opinionated point of view on what to build, what to defer, and what to kill.
Continuously scan the AI and product landscape; surface credible recommendations on which capabilities to adopt, build, or wait on.
Articulate the strategic narrative for the portfolio in language that lands with engineers, executives, and clients alike.
Discovery & Experimentation
Lead structured product discovery: customer interviews, usage analysis, market research, and rapid prototyping to validate the right problems to solve.
Design and run lightweight experiments to test AI capabilities with real users before committing to roadmap.
Translate insight into clear product hypotheses, success metrics, and decision criteria.
Champion a culture of evidence over opinion and a bias toward learning fast.
Applied AI Product Craft
Define how LLMs, RAG, and agentic AI capabilities show up as user-facing experiences - not as a feature list, but as a coherent product.
Specify evaluation criteria, quality bars, and guardrails for AI features so they reach production safely and earn user trust.
Make the trade-off calls between accuracy, latency, cost, and user control that AI products demand.
Partner with design and engineering on conversational, adaptive, and assistive UX patterns that move beyond traditional UI.
Delivery & Cross-Functional Partnership
Partner daily with engineering, design, data, and business stakeholders to translate strategy into shipped product.
Drive complex, multi-workstream programs from concept to production; manage scope, risk, and trade-offs in real time.
Build trusted relationships across multiple lines of business; translate ambiguous business intent into precise product specifications.
Lead compelling product reviews and demos that generate stakeholder confidence and investment momentum.
Go-to-Market & Adoption
Define how products reach users: positioning, onboarding, success metrics, and feedback loops.
Partner with sales, client success, and marketing to ensure new capabilities are adopted, not just shipped.
Own the post-launch story: measure outcomes, learn from real usage, and feed insight back into the roadmap.
Person Specification / Requirements
Experience
8+ years in product management or a product-leading role, with a track record of shipping products users actually adopt.
3+ years leading product for AI-powered, data-rich, or technically complex products.
Demonstrable record of taking products from concept through production in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
Prior experience working directly with senior business stakeholders to shape and deliver outcomes.
Enterprise or B2B product experience is a strong plus.
AI & Product Craft
Strong product instinct: user-centric, opinionated about what's worth building, and comfortable prioritizing under constraints.
Hands-on familiarity with LLM-powered products - prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), evaluation, and observability.
Practical understanding of agentic AI architectures and where multi-step, tool-using workflows create real user value.
Track record applying generative AI and natural language interfaces to deliver measurable product impact, not just demos.
Comfort defining quality bars, evaluation frameworks, and guardrails for AI products.
Ability to assess emerging AI capabilities with rigor and translate them into near-term business outcomes.
Technical Fluency
Strong technical literacy: able to engage credibly with engineers, data scientists, and architects on trade-offs without writing the code yourself.
Familiarity with modern data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, or similar) and cloud-native environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Comfort with APIs, integrations, and the basics of how production AI systems are built and operated.
Working knowledge of analytics, experimentation, and product instrumentation.
Leadership & Communication
Proven ability to influence and align cross-functional teams in a matrixed, fast-paced environment.
Exceptional written and verbal communication; capable of presenting to senior business leadership with confidence.
Natural tendency to simplify rather than over-engineer; pragmatic about when "good enough" beats perfect.
Strong demo and storytelling instincts: builds polished demonstrations that generate momentum with non-technical audiences.
Compensation
CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Director, AI Product position is $170,000.00 annually and the maximum salary is $190,000.00 annually.
