AI Engineer

Location: within 50 miles of Charlotte, NC - 3 days on site mandatory in a week

Pay Range: $60-$65/Hr.

Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2 from Day 1

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and support enterprise Generative AI applications across web, API, backend, data, and database layers. This role involves working with modern AI/ML technologies, cloud-native architectures, and full-stack development, often applying new and emerging technologies. You will work under minimal supervision with general guidance from senior team members, and may collaborate with external developers to coordinate software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support enterprise Generative AI (GenAI) applications spanning web, API, backend, data, and database layers.
• Develop AI-powered capabilities using Python and modern AI/ML libraries, integrating with Large Language Models (LLMs) and external AI services.
• Create effective prompts, AI workflows, and model integrations to deliver accurate, scalable, business-focused GenAI solutions.
• Build and maintain modern web applications using Angular or React, with backend services in Node.js and Express.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs following HTTP standards, security best practices, and scalable architecture patterns.
• Develop and optimize SQL and PL/SQL database components, queries, stored procedures, and data access layers.
• Design, implement, and support ETL processes, data integration pipelines, and data engineering solutions for analytics and AI-driven capabilities.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization using OAuth2 and related security protocols.
• Utilize Redis and other performance optimization techniques to improve application scalability and responsiveness.
• Participate in CI/CD automation, containerized deployments, and cloud-native application delivery, applying best practices for logging, monitoring, observability, and security.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 6–8 years in a software engineering role.
• Python Development: Strong experience with core Python programming, package management, and web frameworks (Flask or FastAPI).
• Generative AI: Hands-on experience building and integrating GenAI solutions, including prompt engineering, AI libraries, model APIs, and LLM-based applications.
• AI/ML Fundamentals: Good understanding of LLMs, Generative AI, machine learning concepts, transformers, neural networks, and AI application design principles.
• Frontend/Backend: Experience developing modern web applications using Angular or React, and backend services using Node.js and Express.
• APIs & Web Protocols: Strong understanding of REST APIs, HTTP/HTTPS protocols, web services, SSL/TLS certificates, and secure application communication.
• Security: Experience implementing OAuth2 authentication/authorization, secret management, and application security best practices.
• Databases: Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills, including database design, query tuning, stored procedures, data modeling, and performance optimization.
• Performance & Observability: Experience with Redis caching, performance tuning, logging, monitoring, and application observability practices.
• AI/ML Tooling: Familiarity with PyTorch, TensorFlow, VS Code, PyCharm, Jupyter, Hugging Face, npm, PyPI, Maven, and NuGet.
• CI/CD & DevOps: Experience with CI/CD platforms and DevOps tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, Ansible, or similar.
• Cloud-Native Deployment: Knowledge of containerized and cloud-native deployment using OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, or similar platforms.
• Methodology: Experience working in Agile development environments.
