Forbes Advisor is hiring a Director, AI Creative to design and implement how the Creative team uses AI to improve the quality and the quantity of our work across our social verticals. As this is a new department within the Creative team, you will define its function, build the systems that run it, and hire and oversee the required team. The ideal candidate has deep expertise spanning generative AI and tooling, direct response creative, and leadership of creative teams. You and your team will work across Forbes’ portfolio of verticals, partnering with Creative Directors who own end-to-end vertical creative strategy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design the strategy, team structure, and systems for embedding AI tools in the creative process, with a focus on producing a high volume of generative AI content designed for paid social creative.
- Own generative output end to end for paid social and native: stills that hold the same character across every shot, AI video, lip-sync, and generated voiceover, from approved script and storyboard to organized, tagged, editor-ready footage. Set the quality bar for generated work and enforce it.
- Architect the systems that make generation scale past any one person: pipelines, prompt libraries, character reference libraries, internal tooling, and the automation that connects them.
- Measure how well AI content, and the systems that produce it, are working. What a finished asset costs to make, how long a job takes from approved script to editor handoff, how often work is accepted on the first pass, and how generated work performs in market against everything else we run.
- Help raise the AI fluency of the whole creative team. Work with Creative Directors and their teams to design AI-enabled tools, systems, processes that improve quality and quantity of output.
REQUIREMENTS
- 7+ years in creative, production, or content, with at least the last 2 years hands-on in generative AI video and image production. You have stood up an AI capability inside a creative org before.
- A real grounding in direct-response creative. You understand how a DR ad is built, and you can judge whether a cut will convert, not only whether it looks polished.
- Demonstrated generative craft: a reel or portfolio of AI-generated or AI-assisted work that ran as paid creative, with an honest account of what you made versus what the model made, and how it performed. You can hold character and continuity across a whole spot, work out why a render broke instead of re-rolling blindly, and get work through platform filters yourself.
- Deep, current fluency with the generative tools: image models that can hold several characters consistent, AI video both with and without native audio, lip-sync, and AI voiceover. You have opinions on the trade-offs, not a list of tool names.
- You architect the tooling. You can map out the systems and automations the team needs, build working versions yourself in tools like n8n, Gumloop, or Make, and brief engineering clearly enough that they can build the rest.
- Experience leading people or a function, whether as a manager, a team lead, or the person who built a capability others came to depend on. You can make the case for a hire and then hold the bar you set.
- Comfort working inside compliance rails: regulated-category claims, platform ad policy, and partner brand guardrails.
- Clear written communication, and the confidence to hold your position with senior people outside Creative, including the buyers and the executive team.
- Comfortable in a start-up style operating environment where the tools, and sometimes the plan, change under you.
STRONG PLUSES
- Video editing or motion and VFX background (Premiere, After Effects, DaVinci) that lets you hand editors better material and speak their language.
- Familiarity with DAM systems (Air, Frame.io, or comparable) and production project-management tooling.
- Comfort reading performance dashboards (Looker, Tableau, in-platform reporting) to close the loop between what rendered and what converted.
- A track record of forming a real point of view on brand-new tools fast, because these tools turn over monthly.
