Agronomy Business Manager - Crop Protection

Gpac is partnering with an agricultural retailer to hire an Agronomy Business Manager. This person will oversee product selection, purchasing, pricing, supplier relationships, and financial performance while supporting the agronomy sales team. The strongest candidates bring established crop protection distributor relationships and experience managing a P&L.

Responsibilities

• Manage the crop protection budget, P&L, pricing, and gross margin.
• Evaluate the product lineup and recommend additions, substitutions, and discontinuations.
• Develop seasonal purchasing plans and determine order quantities.
• Build relationships with manufacturers and distributors.
• Negotiate purchasing terms and manage supplier programs, incentives, and rebates.
• Monitor inventory and address excess or slow-moving products.
• Train the sales team on crop protection products, application timing, tank mixes, and commercial programs.
• Maintain accurate product information and support label compliance.

Qualifications

• Crop protection experience in agricultural retail, distribution, or manufacturing.
• Established relationships with crop protection distributors and suppliers.
• Experience managing purchasing, pricing, inventory, and profitability.
• Direct P&L responsibility.
• Working knowledge of herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and agronomic practices.
• Bachelor’s degree required. Agriculture-related degree preferred.
• CCA designation preferred, or willingness to obtain certification.
• Valid driver’s license and availability for monthly regional travel.
• Retail agriculture experience preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

• Six-figure base salary + performance-based incentive

• Remote work arrangement with monthly regional travel across the Mid-Atlantic.
