    Position Overview

    The Aggregate Quality Manager provides enterprise leadership for aggregate quality operations across Staker Parson. This role is responsible for developing standardized quality management systems, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards, driving continuous improvement, managing quality and operational risks, and supporting the consistent production of high-quality aggregate products.

     

    As the company's subject matter expert for aggregate quality, this leader partners closely with Operations, Asphalt, Ready Mix, Construction, Commercial, Environmental, and Engineering teams to improve product performance, support customer success, and advance operational excellence. The role plays a critical part in supporting strategic growth initiatives and the long-term success of the aggregates business.


    Key Tasks and Responsibilities

    Enterprise Quality Leadership

    In this role, you will:

    • Develop and implement a company-wide Aggregate Quality Management System.
    • Establish standardized testing procedures, laboratory practices, quality metrics, and documentation requirements across all aggregate operations.
    • Partner with operational and safety leaders to identify risks, promote safe work practices, and ensure quality processes support a safe and compliant work environment.
    • Ensure compliance with company standards, industry specifications, and regulatory requirements.
    • Foster a culture of quality, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
    • Establish quality performance expectations and governance processes across all locations.

    Quality Assurance & Product Performance

    • Ensure aggregate products consistently meet customer specifications and applicable industry standards.
    • Develop and oversee quality control plans across operations.
    • Analyze quality trends and implement proactive improvement initiatives.
    • Lead investigations into quality issues and develop sustainable corrective actions.
    • Reduce product variability while supporting operational efficiency and production objectives.

    Laboratory Leadership

    • Provide enterprise oversight of aggregate laboratory operations.
    • Ensure compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, UDOT, and other applicable testing standards.
    • Establish laboratory standards related to equipment calibration, documentation, technician qualifications, sample retention, and audit readiness.
    • Promote consistency, accuracy, and reliability across laboratory operations.

    Standardization & Continuous Improvement

    • Develop and maintain standardized testing methods, sampling procedures, reporting protocols, and quality dashboards.
    • Implement root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
    • Identify and deploy best practices across operations.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve quality consistency, operational efficiency, and data reliability.

    Data Analytics & Reporting

    • Develop enterprise quality reporting and performance dashboards.
    • Monitor specification compliance, product variability, customer concerns, laboratory performance, and operational trends.
    • Leverage data analytics to identify improvement opportunities and support strategic decision-making.
    • Provide actionable quality insights to business and operational leadership.

    Technical & Customer Support

    • Serve as the primary technical resource for aggregate quality across the organization.
    • Support customers with specification interpretation, technical consultation, and quality-related concerns.
    • Participate in customer meetings, technical presentations, and product education initiatives.
    • Help strengthen customer confidence in Staker Parson products and capabilities.

    Strategic Initiatives

    • Support evaluation of new aggregate resources and product development opportunities.
    • Participate in acquisition due diligence and integration activities.
    • Implement emerging technologies and digital quality management solutions.
    • Support sustainability initiatives, capital planning efforts, and long-term business growth strategies.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

    Partner with various lines of business and teams to optimize product performance, improve operational consistency, support customer requirements, and align quality initiatives with business objectives.

    Leadership & Talent Development

    • Lead and mentor aggregate quality personnel across the organization.
    • Develop technical training and competency programs.
    • Establish standardized onboarding and development processes.
    • Support succession planning and workforce development initiatives.
    • Promote knowledge sharing and technical best practices across the business.

    Experience / Education

    Required

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Materials Engineering, Construction Management, Geology, or a related field.
    • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in aggregate quality, materials engineering, or construction materials.
    • Deep knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, UDOT, and applicable quality standards.
    • Demonstrated leadership experience supporting technical teams across multiple operations or locations.
    • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

    Preferred

    • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent technical certification.
    • Certified Aggregate Technician or similar industry certification.
    • Experience supporting aggregates, asphalt, ready-mix concrete, and heavy civil construction operations.
    • Experience implementing enterprise quality management and data analytics systems.
