Position Overview
LHH is partnering with our fast-growing San Francisco technology partner who is seeking an AI Product Engineer with strong back-end engineering expertise to build and scale production AI applications.
This hands-on role requires recent experience developing production LLM systems, agentic AI applications, and modern back-end platforms. Candidates must be based in or commutable to the San Francisco Bay Area and available onsite approximately three days per week.
Responsibilities
Build and deploy production AI and LLM-powered applications.
Design and develop AI agentic harnesses, including tool calling, guardrails, context management, and failure recovery.
Develop RAG pipelines and MCP integrations.
Build scalable back-end services using Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL.
Develop LLM evaluation, tracing, and observability solutions.
Own product features from concept through production deployment.
Qualifications
Hands-on production Agentic Harness experience is REQUIRED.
Proven experience shipping LLM-powered systems into production.
Experience with RAG, MCP, tool calling, context management, and LLM evaluation frameworks.
Strong Python/back-end engineering experience.
React/TypeScript experience preferred.
Strong product mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment.
General GenAI exposure, prompt engineering, or simply using AI coding assistants does not satisfy the Agentic Harness requirement.
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: $155,000-$250,000 annually, based on experience, skills, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
