Duties
- Providing high-quality, person-centred nursing care within an orthopaedic setting
- Assessing, monitoring and reviewing patients' health needs
- Providing pre-operative and post-operative nursing care to orthopaedic patients
- Carrying out clinical observations and recording patient information accurately
- Administering medications and pain relief safely and effectively
- Monitoring patients following orthopaedic procedures and surgeries
- Providing wound care, dressing changes and post-operative wound management
- Carrying out neurovascular observations and identifying potential complications
- Assisting patients with mobility, rehabilitation and recovery
- Supporting patients with casts, splints and other orthopaedic supports as required
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date nursing documentation
- Working collaboratively with orthopaedic consultants, physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals
- Supporting patients and their families with care, communication and discharge planning
- Maintaining a safe, clean and professional clinical environment
- Adhering to NMBI standards, policies and procedures at all times
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in General Nursing and Active Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Minimum 6 months post-registration nursing experience
- Previous experience in an orthopaedic nursing setting desirable
- Experience in pre-operative and post-operative care, wound management and neurovascular observations desirable
- Excellent clinical and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong understanding of patient safety, confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Compassionate and person-centred approach to nursing care
- Eligible to work in Ireland
- Registered with Clarity Locums (or willing to register)
