Position Overview
Count Your Blessings Preschool is seeking a caring, energetic, and dependable Afterschool Teacher to join our team. This position supports school-age children during afterschool hours by providing a safe, engaging, and structured environment that promotes learning, creativity, and positive social development.
The Afterschool Teacher plays a key role in guiding children through transitions from the school day, supporting homework time, leading enrichment activities, and maintaining a nurturing atmosphere aligned with our mission and values.
Schedule
- Part-time position
- Typical hours: Monday–Friday, afternoon hours (exact schedule may vary)
- Year-round program following the preschool calendar
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage school-age children in a safe and developmentally appropriate manner.
- Support homework completion and provide academic encouragement as needed.
- Plan and lead age-appropriate activities including art, games, outdoor play, and group projects.
- Maintain consistent routines and positive behavior guidance strategies.
- Ensure children are signed in and out according to licensing and program procedures.
- Communicate effectively with families and team members regarding daily activities and child progress.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom and outdoor environment.
- Follow all licensing regulations, health and safety guidelines, and Count Your Blessings Preschool policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in education or child development preferred.
- Experience working with school-age children in a childcare, afterschool, or educational setting preferred.
- Ability to manage a group of children with patience, consistency, and positive guidance.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must meet all state childcare licensing requirements, including background checks.
