Mad Science of DC is seeking an energetic After-School STEM Teacher to lead hands-on science and technology activities for elementary school children (K - 6th grade). This role is perfect for education or STEM college students, teachers looking for supplemental afternoon income, or anyone passionate about youth mentorship and entertainment!


Schedule & Hours
  • Ultra-Flexible: Work just 2 to 4 afternoons a week.
  • Shift Times: Usually between 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM.
  • Commitment: Choose consistent weekdays (Monday - Friday) that fit your schedule.
Compensation & Perks
  • Great Pay:$75 per school visit (each visit includes a 60-minute science workshop plus setup/pack-up time).

What You’ll Do
  • Lead fun, interactive, hands-on 60-minute science workshops for groups of 10–20 curious kids.
  • Instill a love of learning by making complex science topics accessible and wildly entertaining.
  • Safely manage the classroom environment using our predefined, easy-to-follow curriculum guidelines.
What You Need to Apply
  • Reliable Personal Vehicle: Must have your own car and a valid driver's license to transport lesson kits to local schools.
  • Afternoon Availability: Free during school dismissal hours on at least 2 consistent weekdays.
  • Kid Energy: Experience working with groups of children (e.g., camp counselor, tutoring, coaching, babysitting, theater, or youth volunteering).
  • Safety Clearances: Willingness to complete standard child safety and background checks (existing MCPS/DCPS clearances are a big plus).
