    Description

     Essential Functions:

    • Plans and implements daily afternoon program
    • Creates and implements daily plans for age-appropriate
    • Organizes, replenishes and prepares materials and supplies for classroom
    • Provides scheduled naptimes for all children in full day
    • Plans and prepares afternoon snacks for
    • Observes children's interactions and participation in program Identifies preferences in activities and level of participation.
    • Works with staff in classroom, playground and field trip
    • Ensures compliance with program policies and procedures
    • Maintains a safe environment for
    • Immediately reports safety concerns to
    • Handles disciplinary problems promptly and consistently according to established
    • Reports on cases of suspected child abuse according to established
    • Responsible for maintaining effective Program Communication
    • Informs supervisor of program needs, concerns and problem
    • Shares information regarding child's progress or behavioral concerns with team members to ensure continuum of care between programs.
    • Conducts parent/student consultation as
    • Responds to parent/student requests for information, questions, or
    • Assists parents and children in daily check out
    • Participates in employee meetings and training as requested by
    • Prepares program reports as requested by
    • Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by

    Education, Experience, and Licenses:

    • Requires a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or equivalent college level coursework in Early Childhood Education plus 6 months experience in a certified preschool or daycare center.
    • OR Oregon Registry step 6 or higher required
    • OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

    Driving Requirements:

    • Employees may be required to drive for work-related purposes and must maintain a valid Oregon

    Driver’s License (ODL), meet company vehicle insurance requirements, and provide proof of personal vehicle insurance.

    Qualifications,Registrations, and Certifications:

    • Current First Aid and CPR
    • Requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children and
    • Requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and supervisory staff.
    • Must have excellent verbal and written communication
    • Must have the ability to relate well with children at various developmental
    • Must have the ability to effectively communicate well with
    • Must be dependable and willing to work with
    • TB and Hep B vaccinations and a physical are required every three (3)
    • Food handler’s card
    • Must have the ability to work at times with minimal
    • Must have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and record keeping
    • Must have ability to respond courteously and tactfully to complaints and client requests, and to maintain confidentiality.
    • Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture Familiarity with Grand Ronde tribal culture is preferred.

    Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:

    • Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication.
    • Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Requires repetitive movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
    • Requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally.
    • Occasionally requires lifting of up to 40 pounds.
    • This position is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions.
    • Supports a safe work environment by performing all duties in accordance with Tribal safety policies and procedures, and Emergency Management Plan. 
    • Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.
    • May be called upon to serve as a Disaster Reservist during emergencies.
    • Local travel is occasionally required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required.

    Background Check:

    • Candidates for this position will be subject to criminal and character background checks and may be subject to fingerprinting.
    • Must maintain registration in the State of Oregon Central Background Registry
