This is a school-year position working 20 hours per week, starting as soon as possible.Qualifications:High School diploma or equivalentKnowledge and understanding of African-American cultureMAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITYBridge information from schools on enrollment paperwork, attendance, school performance issues, school policies and procedures, health notices, conferences, teacher or administrative communicationsParticipate with families at school conferences and IEP meetingsAct as a communication liaison from parents to school or school to parents including home visits when appropriate.Communicate with appropriate teachers and other district personnel as necessary on academic matters.Promote family participation in school conferences and eventsPromote student self-advocacy and relationship buildingOrganize culturally specific clubs and activitiesKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESCandidates must have knowledge and understanding of African-American culture, ability to develop good relationships with students, families and staff and experience working with students in a school setting.Excellent communication skillsDesire to provide assistance and advocacy to culturally diverse learners and their families to promote school success.Desire to be a part of system change efforts to create more culturally aware schools and community services.Compensation: Starting salary range is $24.45 - $28.29 per hour.Application Timeline: Roseville Area Schools continuously accepts applications for employment and you are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
