Job Summary
Applies knowledge of basic production procedures to fabricate, assemble, clean and repair basic routine metal, composite, mechanical and electrical products partially or completely, working at bench or on the shop floor.
Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities
- Performs routine developmental learning assignments and applies standard solutions to problems or work situations of a routine or repetitive nature. May perform a variety of routine duties related to any work operation in the repair of company and customer products as required.
- Assists in the repair, replacement, and rebuilding of aircraft operational mechanical systems, components and structures including rework and repair metallic or nonmetallic bonded parts for operational aircraft applications.
- Disassembles and inspects parts for wear, warping, or other defects. Follows written or verbal instructions to determine sequence and methods of removal and installation of parts and components of mechanical aircraft subsystems.
- Uses hand tools to remove small quantities of metal with hand files and scrapers to produce close fit between parts. Operates drill motors, die grinders, rivet squeeze and other like tools to assist in assembly operation.
- Assists in the lay out and marking of dimensions and reference lines on material to back drill hole patterns for access doors, installation or replacement of sheet metal parts or other like applications. Trims to fit, file, grinds, deburrs, buffs, and smooths surfaces.
- Bolts, rivets, screws, clips, caulks, or bonds component parts to assemble products. Installs assemblies in supportive framework according to blueprints. Inspects assemblies and installation for conformance to specifications.
Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.
