Day-in-the-Life: Build the Tools That Build Aircraft

From sunrise setup to final inspection, you translate customer prints into precision-built jigs and fixtures that keep aerospace programs moving. Your day blends hands-on craftsmanship with exacting measurement, ensuring every reference point, hole, and surface aligns to spec.

What You’ll Do

• Execute builds directly from customer drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Lay out and coordinate reference points and tooling holes using straightedges and precision metrology tools.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and rework existing tools when needed.
• Create quick fabrication sketches to support build plans and clarify details.
• Operate machine tools as required, including lathes, Bridgeport mills, and grinders.

What You’ll Bring

• 5+ years building precision jigs/fixtures.
• Fluent blueprint reading, including GD&T and interpretation of 3D CAD models.
• Expertise with precision measurement and hand metrology instruments.
• Background in manual machining (mills, lathes, grinders) preferred.
• Strong math aptitude and clear communication skills.
