    Description

    Aerospace Quality Systems Engineer (AS9100)

Imagine starting your day by checking overnight nonconformance trends, then stepping onto the production floor to coach a team through a process audit. By mid-morning, you’re leading an MRB review, and by afternoon, you’re drafting a quality plan for a new customer program—all while partnering closely with engineering, operations, and suppliers. That’s a typical day for our Quality Engineer working with minimal oversight from the Quality Manager or a senior QE (QE III).

    What You’ll Do

    • Act as the Quality voice on cross-functional teams, weaving contractual and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements into proposals, processes, and documentation.
    • Translate customer and regulatory quality requirements for engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and internal partners so expectations are crystal clear.
    • Create quality metrics, program-specific quality plans, and both design and production certification plans for small programs to meet contractual, company, customer, and regulatory needs.
    • Assess supplier capability and perform process validations to inform supplier selection and qualification decisions.
    • Support manufacturing and test readiness through process analysis, testing, inspections, and process audits.
    • Track and analyze nonconformance trends; evaluate the effectiveness of corrective actions to eliminate recurrence.
    • Evaluate, document, and disposition nonconformances in alignment with established Material Review Board (MRB) procedures.
    • Recommend, develop, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address issues at the root cause.
    • Drive continuous improvement to elevate product quality, streamline processes, increase production output, and delight customers.
    • Collaborate daily with engineering, manufacturing, operations, and suppliers to resolve quality issues and optimize processes.
    • Maintain complete and accurate quality records, documentation, metrics, and supporting data.
    • Keep quality processes and documentation aligned with applicable customer, contractual, regulatory, and company requirements.
    • Champion a culture of quality, accountability, continuous improvement, and procedural discipline.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace; follow all safety and PPE requirements.

    What You Bring

    • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in quality engineering or a closely related quality function.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related technical field preferred; in lieu of a degree, 5+ years of applicable quality or engineering experience with strong proficiency will be considered.
    • Background in composites manufacturing is highly preferred.
    • Working knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 preferred.
    • Hands-on experience with nonconformance management, corrective actions (CAPA), process validation, audits, and quality metrics.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, including root-cause analysis and effective corrective action development.
    • Clear, professional communication skills in written and verbal English.
    • Proven ability to collaborate across departments and function effectively on cross-functional teams.
    • Exceptional organization and attention to detail; able to manage priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision.
    • Commitment to a neat, orderly, and safe work environment and proper use of PPE.
