Description

PGS Worldwide is seeking an Aerospace Quality Inspector in Severn, Maryland for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will perform detailed in-process and final inspections of electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical aerospace hardware while supporting prototype, New Product Introduction (NPI), and production builds. The inspector will work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to verify workmanship, documentation, and product compliance with applicable specifications and quality requirements.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor’s degree is not required.
  • 5+ years of electromechanical manufacturing quality assurance/inspection experience and/or Aerospace/NASA industry quality inspection experience.
  • Hands-on experience inspecting electronic components, printed circuit boards, electronic assemblies, fabricated mechanical parts, and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and acceptance criteria for cable harnesses, mechanical assemblies, PCB assemblies, and soldering.
  • Certification in applicable workmanship standards such as IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620 with Space Addendum, J-STD-001 with Space Addendum, NASA-STD-8739.1, or similar standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, process flowcharts, manufacturing travelers, work instructions, and quality documentation.
  • Experience using electromechanical inspection equipment, measuring devices, microscopes, and magnifiers.
  • Ability to perform highly detailed in-process and final inspections.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred Skills

  • Previous quality inspection experience supporting Aerospace or NASA programs.
  • Experience identifying process and product yield trends.
  • Understanding of AS9100 Quality Management System requirements.
  • Experience supporting root cause and corrective action activities.
  • Experience working in manufacturing and engineering laboratory environments.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Experience working effectively in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of in-process and completed electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical products.
  • Inspect cable harnesses, PCB assemblies, soldered components, mechanical assemblies, and fabricated parts.
  • Accept or reject hardware based on drawings, specifications, inspection instructions, and workmanship standards.
  • Use micrometers, indicators, scales, fixtures, microscopes, and other inspection equipment.
  • Support prototype, NPI, and production builds.
  • Verify manufacturing processes and workmanship against established acceptance criteria.
  • Assist with root cause and corrective action investigations.
  • Maintain inspection records and contribute to quality and performance metric reporting.
  • Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve quality issues.

Work Schedule / Shift

  • 9/80 work schedule.
  • Onsite in Severn, Maryland.

Pay

  • $22.00–$36.88 per hour.
