Advanced Practice Provider - Boulder Valley Surgical Associates

$55.10 - $82.65 an hour - 20-30 hours per week





Boulder Community Health is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to join Boulder Valley Surgical Associates (BVSA). This position is responsible for practicing medicine in collaboration with and under the supervision of BVSA surgeons, providing comprehensive care to surgical patients across the continuum of care.


The APP will play an integral role in the evaluation and management of patients in both the clinic and hospital settings, including pre-operative assessments, post-operative follow-up, inpatient rounding, admissions, discharges, consultations, and patient education. The APP will work closely with surgeons, nursing staff, and ancillary departments to provide high-quality, patient-centered surgical care.


This position may assist with procedures and provide first-assist support in the operating room as needed. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing a diverse surgical patient population and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.

Qualifications 

•Graduation from a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program as required by licensure.

•Active Colorado Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner License.

•Credentialed by the Boulder Community Hospital Medical Staff Office.

•BLS and ACLS certification required within 3 months of start date.

•PALS and ATLS certification required within 6 months of start date

•One year of trauma, surgical critical care, or general surgery experience is required, with 3 or more years preferred 

• Prior surgical experience required



Responsibilities

•Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients.  Reviews patient records.

•Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.

•Performs complete physical exam and records findings.  Establishes presumptive diagnosis.

•Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.

•Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.

•Prepares written prescription orders for drugs.

•Assists in transition of care from inpatient to outpatient settings.

•Completes billing for hospital and clinic visits in a timely manner.

•Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention.

•Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.  Provides patient education.

•Assists physicians by recording patient progress notes.  Issue diagnostic orders and transcribes orders.

•Ability to assess, diagnose, and treat all ages served.
