The Preoperative Anesthesia Clinic is a specialized ambulatory care practice dedicated to optimizing patients for surgery through comprehensive preoperative assessment, risk stratification, and perioperative planning. Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) serve as integral members of a multidisciplinary team, partnering closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, nurses, pharmacists, and procedural teams to improve patient safety, reduce surgical delays, and enhance perioperative outcomes.
This dynamic outpatient practice offers APPs the opportunity to practice at the top of their license while managing patients with complex medical conditions across a broad spectrum of surgical specialties. Providers conduct detailed history and physical examinations, review diagnostic testing, assess anesthetic and surgical risk, develop evidence-based optimization plans, and coordinate care with specialty consultants when indicated.
The clinic is staffed by Family Nurse Practitioners (FNP), Acute Care Nurse Practitioners (ACNP), Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioners (AG-ACNP), and Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (PCNP) who are passionate about perioperative medicine and patient-centered care. APPs function with a high degree of autonomy while collaborating within an established anesthesia-led model of care.
