    Description

    Position Summary:

    University Pulmonary Critical Care is now accepting applications for a critical care APP. The position is working days, covering from 6 am to 6 pm. The APP would be responsible for an assigned group of patients, handling consults/admits, rounding on ICU patients in our MCC and CVICU. There is a varied patient population in our ICUs including pre/postop cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, postop vascular surgery, general medical ICU, etc. The APP will also provide coverage for patients requiring cardiac assist devices such as ECMO, Impella, IABPs, and LVAD.

    Orientation consists of 6 months of training. Training on procedures is provided during orientation. These procedures include central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, paracentesis, thoracentesis, and lumbar puncture. There is also training provided for ECMO and other cardiac assist devices.

    Position Qualification:

    Degree / Diploma Type Required/Preferred (and/or)

    Masters or Doctorate in Nursing- Acute Care trained is preferred but not required

    Masters or Doctorate as a Physician Assistant

    Experience

    New graduate APPs are welcome to apply

    At least 1-2 years of experience as an APP and/or adequate bedside nursing experience in the ICU/ED setting if applying as a new graduate APP

    Licensure, Certification, Registration

    Physician Assistant in the state of Tennessee

    Advanced Practice Nurse in the state of Tennessee along with Registered Nurse in the state of Tennessee or Multi-State Compact License
