Advanced Practice Provider -Cardiothoracic Surgery RESPONSIBILITIES EXPECTATIONS The duties listed below are a general description and may not include all duties identified and shall not be considered a detailed description of all work requirements. Maintains the standards of the Cardiothoracic (CT) Surgery Service line and adheres to the collaborating physician expectations. Collaborates with the surgeons and cardiac intensivists to admit, discharge, and care for patients during their stay as well as provide consultation services as requested. In collaboration with the CT Surgeon and interdisciplinary team, analyzes and prioritizes actual/potential patient problems/needs and plans medical therapies and interventions. Performs invasive and therapeutic diagnostic procedures based on the needs of the patient as determined by the CT Surgeon and/or Intensivist and as approved and credentialed by the Medical Staff Office. Documents procedures, patient response and results in the patients medical record. Responds to all Rapid Response and Code Blue calls within the Heart Vascular Hospital. Responds to changes in patients condition by assessing the patient via history and physical exam appropriate to such change; contacts the attending physician to relay the findings and formulate necessary interventions; orders laboratory tests and other diagnostic studies if further data is necessary, and orders medication in accordance with the Medical Staff By-Laws. Abides by Aultman Hospital Medical Staff bylaws. Presents selected patient assessments, diagnoses, and plan of care during interdisciplinary team rounds. Provides a safe environment for patients. Assess needs of patient for discharge planning. Provides patients / families education and support. Reports and accurately records pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (i.e.: physicians, unit director, division director, charge nurse). Serves as a clinical resource for nursing staff, allied health staff and other patient caregivers and as a clinical preceptor for advanced practice nurses and other healthcare professionals. Initiates and/or collaborates in performing clinical research projects including Demonstrates ability to competently provide individualized goal directed nursing care to patients through use of assessment. Maintains a high degree of professional conduct. Creates and fosters a work environment that is consistent with the Mission, Vision and Values of the Aultman Health Foundation. Promotes education in classroom, clinical setting and community. Maintains professional development within the advanced practice nursing scope and standard of practice. Supports strategic organizational goals Abides by theAultman Code of Conduct at all times Complete all Medical Records as required by Medical Staff bylaws, Rules and Regulations of Hospital Job Requirements Minimum Education(one of the below) Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.A Nurse Practitioner has successfully completed an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program and successfully passed the certification exam. Physician Assistant. A Physician Assistant (PA) that has successfully completed an accredited PA program and passed the boards. Current licensureas an Advanced Practice Provider within the State of Ohio Minimum Experience- Minimum 3 years in Acute Care, Cardiothoracic ICU setting preferred Certifications BLS and ACLS Management Qualities- Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills; strong organization skills; ability to stimulate new ideas and create an environment of teamwork Leadership Expertise- Integrity, honesty, fairness, possesses vision, respect WORKING CONDITIONS: 10 or 12-hour day shifts, rotating every 4thweekend coverage.
