Advanced Practice Provider to work Monday-Friday (no call, no weekends) from 8am-5pm. Will support breast cancer patients through the cancer continuum from diagnosis to survivorship. Position based at the UVA Health Breast Care Center in Pantops and will support 2-3 Medical breast oncologists. Prior oncology, chemotherapy, women's health or advanced practice experience beneficial. OCN, CBCN or AOCNP certification a plus.

Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen.

Clinical

  • Provide care for medical breast oncology patients in an ambulatory setting
  • Perform routine follow up visits for patients on chemotherapy, immunotherapy and hormonal therapies
  • Evaluate patients requiring acute symptom management
  • Manage patients in longitudinal survivorship post-treatment
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including research coordinators, social workers, lymphedema therapists, dieticians, surgeons, radiologists and pathologists
  • Perform and document history & physical exams, and analyze clinical data to form well-developed differential diagnoses.
  • Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, following patient responses, and adjusting the plan of care based on ongoing objective and subjective data collection.
  • Identify appropriate sub-specialist consultation.
  • Effectively communicate plans of care with patients, families, nurses, and other stakeholders; and navigate complex psychosocial dynamics.

Leadership

  • Collaboration within a multidisciplinary team of physicians, APPs, nurses, therapists, and physician and advanced practice leadership.
  • The ability to professionally lead other members of the care team in a dynamic environment.
  • Participate within organizational initiatives that promote the development of colleagues (APP, RN, others).
  • Evaluate/augment quality initiatives and participate in evidence-based practice to improve outcomes and safety.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree.

Experience: Department and unit specific.

Licensure: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

The starting base rate for this role is $116,123.00 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate"s qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
