Job Title: Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA)

No. of Positions / Candidates Required: 3 FTE (2,080 hrs/year each; 6,240 total per period)

Exact Location: 4100 W. 3rd St., Dayton, OH 45417

Pay: $25 - $28/hr on W2

Duration: 1-year contract with the possibility of 1 additional year extension

Shift Schedule: 8:00 AM 4:30 PM (0800 1630), Mon Fri. Two 15-min breaks + 30-min lunch.

How Many Shifts Needed Per Month: Full-time equivalent (2,080 hrs/year per AMSA)

Credentialing / Onboarding Time: 6 8 weeks

Certifications: Certification from an accredited institution in medical administration preferred.

Education: Consistent with 2 3 years of medical admin experience or equivalent certification from an accredited institution.

Experience Needed: 2 3 years of experience in medical administration or related field.

Special Skills Needed: Scheduling software proficiency; customer service; VA CPRS/EHR data entry; insurance collection and revenue identification; consult tracking; multi-tasking across clinical and administrative functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage appointment scheduling across one or more clinics; adjust for provider conflicts/coverage gaps
  • Verify and update patient demographics and insurance information at each encounter
  • Collect, scan, and update health insurance information in EHR; identify third-party insurance
  • Conduct daily review of active/pending consults, recall lists, and return-to-clinic communications
  • Participate in daily team huddles and weekly PACT team meetings
  • Assist veterans with Beneficiary Travel reimbursement information
  • Coordinate with Transportation Coordinator for veteran support services
  • Handle phone calls courteously and timely; screen for nature of request and direct appropriately
  • Advise veterans on eligibility, procedures, and administrative processes related to care
  • Validate team workload and ensure reporting meets department metrics
  • Ensure patient safety standards via multiple-form ID verification
