    QUALIFICATIONS

    • License:

    A. Professional Educators License (PEL), with Endorsements in General Education (K-5)

    • Education:

    A. Required - Bachelor's Degree

    B. Preferred - Master's Degree in Language Arts or Math

    • Experience:

    A. Required - A minimum of 3 years Elementary or Middle school teaching experience.

    B. Preferred - A minimum of 3 years Elementary or Middle school teaching experience in a public-school setting, plus experience participating in professional development in Gifted Education.

    ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Has command of the subject matter and effectively implements the Woodland District 50 curriculum including Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Illinois State Standards.

    2. Uses a variety of instructional techniques and differentiates instruction to meet the individual needs and interests of the students.

    3. Contributes to and models a positive school climate through the support of the district's Strategic Plan and Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) program.

    4. Collaborates with staff and paraprofessionals to meet the needs of students with special needs.

    5. Maintains control of storage and use of school-owned property. Keeps supplies in good working condition. Is responsible for all materials as well as manages repair of equipment.

    6. Collaborates, as needed, with appropriate school personnel regarding students who may need specialized interventions.

    7. Uses a variety of avenues to communicate regularly with parents and school personnel regarding students' levels and rates of progress.

    8. Uses a variety of assessment tools that support district curriculum and Common Core State

    Standards.

    1. Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs and Interests.

    2. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil conduct in alignment with the Parent/Student Handbook and PBIS in order to provide for a safe, orderly, and productive environment.

    3. Evaluates teacher/parent requests for student placement into the Advanced Language Arts and Advanced Math Program.

    4. Plans for and implements challenging lessons for advanced students in the area of Language Arts/Math on a daily basis.

    5. Communicates program goals to the school community.

    6. Keeps teachers, parents, building administrators and the Director of Curriculum, Assessment and Accountability informed regarding recommendations and student progress

    7. Maintains an inventory of advanced materials and orders materials when necessary.

    8. Maintains accurate, complete and up-to-date records of student attendance, projects, and

    grades.

    1. Uses a variety of avenues to communicate regularly with parents and school personnel regarding students' levels and rates of progress.

    2. Administers state and local standardized ability and achievement tests and interpret results to determine student strengths and area of need.

    3. Attends and participates in team, department, faculty meetings, and professional development.

    4. Keeps up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and makes relevant changes to instructional plans and activities to meet the needs of all students.

    5. Adheres to all school and district policies and procedures, including maintaining confidentiality.

    6. Performs other such duties and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned by School Principal or the Director of Curriculum, Assessment and Accountability.

    Technical: Must be able to use the district email system, Google platforms, Microsoft Office, and the district's attendance system.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Manual Dexterity: Work requires definite skilled and accurate physical operations requiring some close coordination performance.

    Physical Effort: Work requires handling average-weight materials or equipment, but not for sustained periods.

    Working Conditions: Some exposure to disagreeable elements may exist, e.g., temperature changes, use of steps/stairs, walking long distances throughout the building, etc. Must be available to work nights and weekends as needed, especially for an emergency. Must also be available to attend events outside of the district as needed. Must be available to travel to schools, meetings, and conferences as needed.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: One hundred eighty-five (185) days

    SALARY RANGE: BA / Step 1: $47,123 - MA+45 Step 8: $63,094 (Based on experience and education as defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement)
