SCHEDULE:
Part-Time, Hybrid; approximately 8 hours per week within the program's Monday-Thursday operating window; additional hours may be required based on program needs
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Proven experience working with adult learners or willingness to learn adult education
instructional practices
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with technology, including Google Workspace, video conferencing
platforms, learning management systems, and digital productivity tools
- Ability to motivate, encourage, and effectively communicate with adult learners from diverse
backgrounds
- Ability to maintain accurate student records and meet program reporting requirements
- Willingness to learn Adult Education data systems, student information systems,
instructional platforms, and testing software
- Understanding of student confidentiality and privacy laws
- Willingness to work evening hours as program needs require
Preferred
- Experience teaching Adult Basic Education, High School Equivalency (HiSET/GED), or
related instructional programs
- Familiarity with HiSET, GED, TABE/DRC, Essential Education, or similar instructional
platforms
- Experience using Google Classroom, Google Meet, Zoom, or comparable instructional
technology
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide high-quality instruction in both in-person and virtual learning environments utilizing
approved instructional technologies
- Deliver engaging instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies to
adult learners pursuing a High School Equivalency diploma, workforce readiness skills, or
postsecondary goals
- Develop and adapt lesson plans aligned with Indiana Adult Education standards and HiSET
assessment objectives
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate attendance, assessment records, and
required program documentation
- Maintain student files in accordance with Indiana Department of Workforce Development
(DWD) guidelines
- Assist students with academic support, testing preparation, and High School Equivalency
scheduling
- Follow up with students to promote attendance, retention, and successful program
completion
- Collaborate with Adult Education staff to ensure continuity of instruction and student
success
- Participate in required staff meetings, professional development, and program training
- Maintain a safe, positive, and respectful learning environment
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the administration
