Adult Education English (ESL) Instructors

Instructors needed for Beginner and Intermediate level Adult ESL classes offered for families of Marlborough EL students

Work Year:

2026-2027 School Year

Effective Dates of Employment:

November 4, 2026- June 17, 2027

Classes are on Wednesday nights + 1 pre-meeting on November 3, 2026.

Schedule:

• Fall -Class Cohort: November , 2026 - February 10, 2027
• Spring -Class Cohort: February 24, 2027 - June 16, 2027

Wednesday night classes, 4 hours weekly (6:30pm - 8:30pm class, arrival at 6:00pm & departure at 9:00pm + 1 hour prep)

Additionally there will be one pre-program meeting November 3, 2026.

Compensation*:

$35 per hour to be paid off timesheets.

• This is a grant funded position.

Organizational Relationship Or Line of Authority:

Directly responsible to the Executive Director of English Language Learner Services

Statement of Duties:

• Participate in Pre-Program Meeting for class list creation and general information
• Create a scope and sequence for a language class for adults, focusing on school-related vocabulary and developing a language base.
• Plan and deliver lessons for a conversation-based class
• Continuously monitor and support participants, providing constructive feedback
• Collaborate with instructors of Spanish & Portuguese Mini Courses to coordinate 2 Cultural/Linguistic Exchange Evenings during class sessions
• Work with Adult ESL Coordinator to fill vacated class
• Furnish sub plans if absent

Qualifications:

• Adult Education experience preferred
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
