The Director of Adult Education provides leadership, administrative and operational support to ensure delivery of Adult Basic Education programs in Sheridan and Johnson Counties. This position is funded by Sheridan College's Adult Education Grant.
- Ensure compliance with Sheridan College policies and procedures and other funder requirements
- Direct strategic planning, program development, budget development and instruction
- Provide grant writing, management, and reporting
- Oversee data collection, outcomes, and measures for Adult Education at Sheridan College to include:
- Maintaining accurate student files
- Digitizing student files
- Maintaining program database
- Conduct document audits as needed
- Provide supervision and leadership for staff development.
- Coordinate and lead community outreach for Adult Education
- Assist with student instruction as needed
- Participate in a growth-oriented team approach
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Academic Dean
Supervisory and Management Responsibility:
Supervises work of instructors and student workers, including planning, assigning, scheduling, and reviewing work, ensuring quality standards. Is responsible for hiring, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff. Plans organizational structure and job content.
Reports To Academic Dean Education/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education, Adult Basic Education, or a related field of study required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Adult Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field of study
- Experience with Adult Learning Theory and curriculum development
- Supervisory experience
- Experience working in an educational institution
- Experience with data tracking software
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of internal and external customer service principles and practices
- Knowledge of principles and methods for promoting programs and services
- Knowledge of project management principles
- Knowledge and application of various instructional methodologies
- Skill in effective communication (both written and oral)
- Skills in leadership and supervision
- Ability to apply analytical and critical thinking skills as well as draw conclusions and prepare accurate reports of results
- Ability to develop and maintain effective and positive working relationships
- Knowledge of business management and fiscal practices preferred
- Knowledge of human resources principles and practices preferred
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
- Sedentary office work
- Works at a computer for an extended period of time
- Site visits in Johnson County
