Adult Confirmation Coordinator

The Coordinator for Adult Confirmation engages, forms and accompanies adult Catholics seeking the Sacrament of Confirmation. Works with the Senior Coordinator for Marriage Preparation and Sacramental Formation to support Adult Confirmation and other sacramental formation initiatives according to the vision of the Archdiocese of Chicago for an engaged, evangelizing, and revitalized Church of disciples that transform their communities through witness to the love of Jesus. Ministry focus includes small group facilitation, lead catechist responsibilities and accompanying Confirmation candidates. This role reports to Senior Coordinator for Marriage Preparation and Sacramental Formation.

Responsibilities:

Trained small group facilitator gifted in adult accompaniment

• Facilitate small group discussions during Adult Confirmation sessions
• Curate, review, and evaluate ongoing faith formation resources for adult disciples
• Support (co-lead) and conduct (lead) catechist/facilitator trainings

Lead catechist with a vision of evangelizing catechesis & discipleship development

• Lead adult Confirmation sessions, as needed, with emphasis on discipleship development
• Knowledge of the archdiocesan Adult Confirmation process, sacramental policies and adult faith accompaniment methodologies
• Collaborate with ministry team for ongoing curriculum adaptations and visioning
• Attend Adult Confirmation Liturgies to welcome, support and accompany candidates

Core member of the Sacramental Formation Team and its support of Confirmation candidates

• Monitor Adult Confirmation email accounts (English and Spanish) to:

• Pastorally respond to candidates' questions about the Confirmation process and requirements; track candidates attending the Confirmation Mass only; track and notify candidates registering for the next session

• Walk with candidates in their participation, engagement and faith development by:

• Reading and commenting on candidate Mass reflections, tracking service project reporting, managing trips to Our Lady of Angels Mission, expanding the Confirmation service project vision, tallying and entering weekly attendance into the platform, and sending weekly emails to candidates with lesson summary, resources, and other information

• Provide technology and document support by:

• Handling issues with the website and candidates' account access, tracking missing documents, answer basic issues regarding Baptismal/Communion records, tracking candidates who switch sessions, processing refunds for those who drop the Zoom sessions, sending copies of Confirmation certificates from previous sessions when requested, providing proof of preparation letters for those being Confirmed elsewhere

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Theology, Pastoral Ministry or related field of study from an accredited college or university, or equivalency.
• At least three years of experience in adult formation, outreach, ministry, and administration.
• Fully committed to the Catholic Church's teaching on the Gospel message.
• Passion for accompanying adult disciples on their faith journey.
• Open to trainings for the development of pastoral accompaniment skills as needed.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people, including persons with varied social, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
• Must be an excellent communicator, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
• Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Power Point, and Excel.
• Working knowledge of the Zoom platform.

Preferred:

• Master's Degree in Theology or related field of Study.
• Five or more years of proven professional experience in the field of adult formation, outreach, ministry, and administration.
• Excellent communications and conflict resolution skills.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.

This position has an annualized salary range of $53,446 - $65,472. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
