Position Description
The Admissions Specialist will plan and coordinate all campus tours for prospective students, parents, and K-12 schools. The Specialist will work with the Recruiter to coordinate and direct efforts to convert prospective students into enrolled students through outreach and follow-up. This position will require time outside of the office to help WDTC maintain a presence at community organizations where WDTC holds office hours. This position may assist with recruiter events when needed.

Work Environment:
This is a full-time position and most of the work to be performed will be done in usual office working conditions on campus. Must be able to work in a multi-tasked environment. Daily attendance is required to meet the needs of students and prospective students. Days and hours are Monday through Friday and work hours may be variable between 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. timeframe. However, there may be times when travel or after-hours are required for events, meetings, training, and other responsibilities. These responsibilities may require evening and weekend hours.
Physical Demands: The duties of this position are sedentary to moderate in nature; however, the employee may have long periods of sitting and/or standing and may need to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Extensive data entry/typing using hands and fingers. Sufficient vision and hearing are required to complete the work and interact with students, staff, faculty, and the public. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 10-25 pounds.
Position Essential Duties
Plan and coordinate all on campus WDTC admissions events (camps, career fairs, visit days, etc.)
Assist students through admissions process, including:
Visits with walk-in prospective students
Conducts individual admissions appointments with prospective students
Calls applicants to schedule admissions tests
Reviews of admissions test results
Completes admissions advising sessions
Makes phone calls/sends emails/text messages for follow up
Assist in any other admissions process as needed
Coordinates all prospective group tours on campus. Working with the Recruiter to ensure adequate coverage and logistics of tours.
Creates and delivers presentations to prospective student groups, parents and/or community groups to promote Western Dakota Technical College.
Schedule, set up and administer admissions testing for incoming new students (ACCUPLACER and TEAS).
Qualifications
Associate degree in Business, Marketing, or related field and 3 years' experience in higher education, community-based organization and/or admissions, sales, recruitment or a combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to meet the expectation of the position.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of and commitment to the goal of a comprehensive enrollment services office.
Knowledge of current technology used in educational services.
Knowledge of policies, procedures, functions, and organization of assigned areas of responsibility.
Experience coordinating student outreach activities and processes required.
Excellent customer service skills.
User-level knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel are required.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize with strong organization skills.
Ability to operate various office equipment, including but not limited to computers, telephone systems, calculators, copiers, and facsimile machines.
Works effectively and productively as a team member. Keep others informed of information needed. Treats others with respect, maintaining a spirit of cooperation.
Maintains effective and professional verbal and written interactions with peers, customers, supervisors, and other staff.
Utilize AI-enabled tools, when appropriate, to support and enhance daily job functions.
