Job Responsibilities

York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Through maximizing student success, the College seeks to contribute to the economic growth and development of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties and of the State.

The Admissions Recruitment and Outreach Specialist performs the following functions:

  • Prospective Student Recruitment and Outreach Support - Participates in assigned high school visits, college fairs, community programs, virtual events, and other recruitment activities. Engages prospective students, provides approved information about College programs and enrollment opportunities, collects student inquiries, and conducts assigned follow-up. Supports outreach to designated student populations, including first-time, adult, transfer, and former dual enrollment students.

  • Campus Tours and Information Sessions - Conducts individual and group campus tours for prospective students, families, schools, and community organizations. Delivers standard information sessions regarding academic programs, student services, and admissions processes. Coordinates routine visit arrangements, materials, locations, and participation by other College offices.

  • Prospective Student Inquiry and Application Support - Responds to routine prospective student inquiries and assists with application completion. Explains published admissions requirements, enrollment timelines, placement requirements, and required documentation. Provides general information about academic programs and career pathways and refers questions involving residency determinations, academic advising, financial aid, registration, or policy exceptions to appropriate staff.

  • Enrollment Follow-Up and Referral - Reviews assigned student records and follows up regarding incomplete applications, missing documentation, and identified next steps. Connects students with Admissions Coordinators, Financial Aid, Advising, the Registrar's Office, and other College resources. Documents student contacts and updates records in designated systems. Supports orientation and other student onboarding activities.

  • Recruitment Event and Operational Support - Supports open houses, registration workshops, orientation programs, career fairs, and other recruitment and enrollment events. Assists with event materials, communications, participant check-in, and logistical arrangements. Maintains participation records and compiles information needed for departmental reporting.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • Bachelors degree
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
