  • Bachelor's degree
  • Demonstrated experience working with students from various backgrounds
  • Effective and accurate written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Available to work evenings, weekends and travel overnight,

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with family programming
  • Current or former Texas State University employee or alumnus
  • Two or more years of prior professional experience in college admissions
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking
  • Experience coordinating events, programs, or group visits.
  • Experience presenting to large groups
  • Experience working independently with minimum supervision

Job Description

The purpose of this position is to recruit prospective students to Texas State through visits from high schools, two-year colleges, and counseling students, parents, andvisiting guests.

Job Duties

The Admissions Counselor position requires excellent oral and written

communication skills as well as exceptional interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Extensive contact and collaboration with high school and community college students, high school counselors, college advisors, university alumni, and other community organizations
  • Assisting with university programming such as campus visit days (i.e., BobcatDay, Academic Visit Days, etc.), bus trips, information sessions
  • Coordinate and manage group visits from high schools and community colleges, including scheduling, communication with school representatives, and collaboration with campus partners to facilitate visit logistics and programming.
  • Assisting with preparation of correspondence and statistical reports
  • Counseling prospective students, families, and visiting guests in the college selection process
  • Evaluating academic credentials
  • Assisting faculty and other departments in recruitment efforts
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Some weekend and/or evening work required.
  • This position serves as an integral part of the undergraduate recruitment teamand may require occasional travel.
