Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The primary purpose of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions is to identify, qualify, and enroll the best brightest and diverse population of talented students, which North Carolina, the region, the nation and the world has to offer and to promote for our clientele an exemplary array of programs to meet their educational professional development interests.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Administrative Support Supervisor will assist the University in meeting its recruitment and enrollment objective by supervising the processing of applications, managing the computer-based admissions systems, providing data required for management decisions, reviewing and determining student eligibility for North Carolina residency for fee purposes, developing and managing electronic application forms following up with admitted students and supervising operations staff. The Administrative Support Supervisor supports the student recruitment effort as needed and performs other activities as assigned by the Director of Undergraduate Admissions.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ensures effective and efficient processing of applications by designing application forms, supervise the processing of admissions applications and transcripts, monitoring achievement of office goals for response time, and providing direction and supervision to the evaluation staff. Provide data required to meet the Office of Undergraduate Admissions' needs by using query management tools, researching data requests, working with Information Technology/Enrollment Research staff to develop queries and reports to meet the needs of departments and offices for data to support enrollment goals and recruitment initiatives. Provide and analyzes information for management purposes by producing reports as needed utilizing familiarity with student databases and using query tools. Develop a systematic approach to entering transfer credit in an efficient and timely manner in collaboration with the Office of Transfer Services. Ensures effective follow-up with admitted students by developing admissions letters and information for those students, supervising the processing and distribution of admissions letter, coordinating with other office (e.g., Orientation, Residence Life, University College, Transfer Services, and Financial Aid) in dissemination of information to admitted students, and conducting research regarding the needs and perceptions of admitted students. Education: Associates Degree Required. Experience: A minimum of there to five years of experience working in higher education is required; familiarity with the University of North Carolina system is preferred. Experience in admissions or a closely related function, and/or experience with complex administrative data systems (ex. BANNER) and/or supervisory experience are required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. The ability to understand, interpret, and analyze data and the business process needs of integrated functions in a complex administrative business system is required. The ability to translate data and business process needs between end users and programmers is required. Customer service skills are required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
Minimum Education/Experience
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience, including some experience as a lead worker; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

The Administrative Support Supervisor assists the University in meeting its enrollment objectives by planning, organizing and supervising the processing of applications; managing the computer-based admissions system; providing data required for management decisions; identifying and determining student eligibility for North Carolina residency for fee purposes; developing and managing electronic application forms; following up with admitted students; and supervising operations staff. The supervisor supports students effort as needed and performs other activities as assigned by the Director of Undergraduate Admissions. Ensures effective and efficient processing of applications by designing application forms, supervising the processing of admissions applications and transcripts, monitoring achievement of office goals for response time, and providing direction and supervision to the evaluation staff. Develop a competent, productive, and effective staff by selecting and supervising, directly and through delegation, designation administrative support personnel and student and part-time employees. This position will be responsible for directly supervising 4 team members and also lead hiring, disciplining, and performing staff evaluations in accordance with University policies and procedures.
