ENTRY LEVEL PAY - $9.50 per hour. (NO BENEFITS)
Shelvers collect, sort, distribute, and shelve library books and materials in accordance with a predetermined numerical and/or alphabetical classification. They also provide routine circulation assistance to patrons under the direct supervision of the branch's Circulation Clerks and under the general supervision of the Branch Librarian. Additional responsibilities include straightening, dusting, and arranging books to maintain neat shelves in their assigned areas. Shelvers move chairs and tables in meeting rooms for library programs, and they perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Shelvers must be at least 16 years old. At a minimum, they must be high school students or possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous customer service experience is preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Shelvers work approximately 20 hours per week. Shifts for this position will require some evening and weekend work, and shelvers are required to work shifts every other Sunday afternoon. This position requires good health, physical condition, and stability sufficient to permit regular attendance and full performance of its essential duties. Shelvers must be able to stand and walk for considerable periods of time and be able to lift books and other materials weighing up to 20 pounds. Furthermore, they must have the agility needed to stoop to place library materials on lower shelves or to use a stool to reach items on higher shelves, and they must be able to push loaded book trucks.
