    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Shorewood School District is seeking a highly competent and motivated person for the position of Assistant to the Athletics & Activities Director at Shorewood School District. The successful candidate must possess exceptional organizational skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to be self-directed.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Assist the Director in supervising the High School and Middle School athletic programs during the school year, in coordination with the Principal, Superintendent, and others, including recommending policies and procedures relating to the athletic programs.

    • Provide administrative and program support to the Department of Recreation & Community during the peak summer youth programming period and support other seasonal events, as needed.

    • Develop necessary information regarding athletics for student-athletes and parents.

    • Maintain necessary athlete records and paperwork required for eligibility to participate in athletics.

    • Assist in the coordination of athletic events, including communication and scheduling of all home sporting events, code meetings, and practices.

    • Prepare for all home sporting events by ensuring staff, volunteers, supplies, and venues are secured.

    • Coordinate travel arrangements as necessary for all team away events.

    • Coordinate athletic event workers, including; recruiting, assigning duties, training, and processing time cards.

    • Process athlete registration materials and communicate with families as needed.

    • Maintain athlete spreadsheets for coaches.

    • Perform secretarial and administrative duties as requested by the Athletic Director and coaches.

    • Collaborate with the District Accounting office regarding athletic fees and payment for officials.

    • Compose routine correspondence, file documents and prepare a variety of records, schedules, calendars, and bulletins.

    • Organize and prepare awards/materials for the end of the year banquets for each sport.

    • Purchase and maintain athlete awards, including pins and letters.

    • Assist with the preparation of the athletic budget.

    • Assist with the contracting of game officials and processing through the use of the appropriate system.

    • Respect and promote the appreciation of diversity and is culturally responsive to the community, students, parents, and District personnel.

    Note: This position requires after-school and evening availability to support team travel, home games and meets, and other athletics functions.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Must be available after school, evenings, and weekends, as needed, to serve as an event manager at various sporting events.

    • Must possess highly effective oral and written communication skills in presenting thoughts, ideas, facts, and information.

    • Must display a high level of proficiency in grammar, spelling, and the preparation and organization of reports and documents.

    • Must perform mathematical calculations and accounting services with accuracy, and be able to follow complex written and oral instructions.

    • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality associated with the nature of records and files.

    • Must assume responsibility, display initiative, and exercise good judgment.

    • Must work positively, effectively, and ethically with the community, students, parents, and District personnel.

    • Must perform duties with awareness of all District requirements as well as Board and District policies and guidelines.
