    Position: Adjunct Professor of Biology- Anatomy and Physiology

    Department: College of Arts & Sciences- Biological Sciences

    Status: Part Time

    Position Summary:

    The Department of Biological Sciences invites applications for one part-time Adjunct Instructor starting in January of 2027 for an entry level undergraduate Human Anatomy & Physiology course on the main campus of Campbell University. Qualified persons will teach one section of BIOL 221 (Essentials of Human A & P). There may be an opportunity for continuation of the position in subsequent semesters, or instruction of Anatomy labs, subject to departmental needs and student enrollment.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Instruct one section of Essentials of Human Anatomy & Physiology (BIOL 221)
    • Develop and manage course materials from learning objectives and textbook provided by the lab coordinator of the course.
    • Present lectures to students as required.
    • Select and compile exams and assignments.
    • Interact with students and field questions pertaining to lectures outside class time, as needed.
    • Work with the lab coordinator and lab instructors of the course to incorporate lab grades into the grades for the course.
    • Participate in student evaluations.
    • Handle student record keeping in a timely and complete manner including submitting grades.
    • Demonstrate accuracy, honesty, integrity, and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University.
    • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
    • Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with trustees, faculty, staff, students, high-level university officials and the public.

    Education/Experience:

    • M.S. or Ph.D. in mammalian anatomy and/or physiology, related graduate degree in Biology, or other graduate/professional education in related field of study.
    • Teaching Experience in higher education is preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Communicate effectively through both oral and written channels.
    • Maintain strict confidentiality and attention to detail.
    • Be comfortable using educational software like Microsoft PowerPoint and Blackboard.
    • Work independently as well as function effectively within a group of colleagues.
    • Exercise independent judgment in complex and new situations.
