Houston Christian University seeks adjunct professor to join the academy with the ability to teach in the discipline of English, history, philosophy or other disciplines in the liberal arts.
The mission of the college of arts and humanities is to provide for alluniversity students robust, cross-disciplinary curricula that cultivate intellectual, moral, and aesthetic virtues within a Christian community.
Job responsibilities include utilizing a course syllabus for each course and following established departmental and institutional guidelines, leading Socratic discussions, providing timely, quality access to students via personal consultation, electronic communication, and other appropriate methods, evaluating students by established means to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and to inform them in a timely manner of their progress, maintaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community, submitting paperwork and forms in a timely fashion, and performing other duties as needed.
Qualifications include an MA or PhD in English, history, philosophy or other disciplines in the liberal arts, and candidates with teaching experience and demonstrated success in the classroom are preferred.
