Adjunct/Part-Time Instructor of Economics

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Division of Business Communications & Sport at Newberry College invites applications for adjunct part-time faculty to teach courses in economics including principles of microeconomics macroeconomics and possibly upper-division classes depending on the needs of the department. Duties of a part-time lecturer include instruction class preparation grading and office hours. Other duties may be assigned based on departmental needs.

JOB FUNCTIONS

• Instructing assigned classes.
• Grading all quizzes tests and written assignments.
• Assigning final grades and delivering grades and grade justification sheets.
• Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours to meet with students.
• Maintaining a safe and effective classroom environment.
• Participating in department division and general adjunct faculty meetings.
• Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Dean of Business Communications and Sports.

EDUCATIONAL OR OTHER HIRING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION

Minimum Requirements

• Masters or Ph.D. in Economics or a related field.
• A minimum of eighteen (18) graduate hours in economics is required.
• Previous teaching experience particularly in Principles of Economics.
• Demonstrated expertise in economic theories principles and applications.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Economics or a related field.
• Two to five years of teaching experience in a post-secondary institution.
• Experience with online or hybrid teaching formats in addition to in-person classrooms.
