JOB DESCRIPTION
The Division of Business Communications & Sport at Newberry College invites applications for adjunct part-time faculty to teach courses in economics including principles of microeconomics macroeconomics and possibly upper-division classes depending on the needs of the department. Duties of a part-time lecturer include instruction class preparation grading and office hours. Other duties may be assigned based on departmental needs.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Instructing assigned classes.
- Grading all quizzes tests and written assignments.
- Assigning final grades and delivering grades and grade justification sheets.
- Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours to meet with students.
- Maintaining a safe and effective classroom environment.
- Participating in department division and general adjunct faculty meetings.
- Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Dean of Business Communications and Sports.
EDUCATIONAL OR OTHER HIRING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION
Minimum Requirements
- Masters or Ph.D. in Economics or a related field.
- A minimum of eighteen (18) graduate hours in economics is required.
- Previous teaching experience particularly in Principles of Economics.
- Demonstrated expertise in economic theories principles and applications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Economics or a related field.
- Two to five years of teaching experience in a post-secondary institution.
- Experience with online or hybrid teaching formats in addition to in-person classrooms.
