What youll do on a typical day The Adjunct Instructor, Truck Driver Training Program, is located on the Davie Campus in Mocksville, NC. Faculty are expected to supervise and train students in proper driving techniques as well as instruct students in proper use of equipment. Qualifications include CDL A or B (see below for complete list of qualifications). This part-time position reports directly to the Program Director, Truck Driver Training.
Essential Job Functions: • Teaches assigned courses on the Davie campus to meet program needs including, but not limited to, day, evening, weekend, and distance courses • Integrate classroom and driving (range/road) practice into learning experiences which enable students to demonstrate prescribed competencies • Oversee day-to-day operation of students in the class • Maintain class records; prepares and submits instructional records, reports, and grades established by institutional policy • Act as a Third Party Examiner for CDL (if certified) • Assists in student recruitment and retention • Accommodate students with disabilities to perform essential functions • Emphasize the development of non-traditional methods of instruction and assessment throughout the College • Improve success of under-prepared students • Maintains high level of sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds • Performs other duties as assigned that achieve the mission and initiatives of the college • Supports the mission, vision, and values of the College and attends College events and meetings

Minimum Qualifications Required: Associate degree (high school diploma and substantial related work experience may be substituted for the degree) Current Class A or B Commercial Driver's License Three to five years of recent experience as a licensed truck driver Excellent driving record Knowledge and understanding of DOT, state, and/or federal laws and regulations related to truck drivers, driving safety, and health practices Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to work effectively and collegially with others Willingness to work a flexible schedule including day, evening, and weekend hours at multiple sites Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college Effectiveness in the following College organizational competencies - Translating College purpose, values, and vision into organizational action - Collaborating and facilitating - Creating and innovating - Anticipating and responding to change - Providing vision and leadership - Assessment of student learning - Engagement and assessment of successful student retention models
Preferred Qualifications: North Carolina DMV Instructor License One year experience as a driver trainer preferably at a community college Industry experience with safety, compliance and driver training 3rd party Examiner status in NC
