Job Summary:The Department of Modern & Classical Languages has an opening for a part time instructor to teach two sections of SPA 101 – Introductory Spanish in the Fall 2026 semester, beginning Monday, August 31, 2026. The schedule for the two classes is: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9:00 am – 9:55 am; and 10:05 am – 11:00 am.Essential Duties:Use a communicative approach to the teaching of a foreign language, using the target language as much as possible, with minimal English for clarification of some grammar points.Prepare daily lesson plans and activities using a textbook that engage students in their study of beginning Spanish, following a syllabus provided by the Department Chair.Prepare and grade chapter exams and quizzes, with resources provided by the textbook company; manage an online program for daily homework; and evaluate student performance.Maintain a class record and keep attendance.Be available for students by appointment to help them with any specific problems they might be having with the course material.Required Knowledge, Skills and Ability:Native or near native Spanish fluency;Thorough knowledge of subject matter;Ability to plan and present instructional material in a clear, logical and concise manner;Ability to maintain proper teacher-student relationship;Sound professional judgment;Initiative and resourcefulnessQualifications:Master's Degree in area of specialization preferred.
